Sound Studio

Press a sound to hear it and see it in the picture. Sounds can change how a scene feels.

Nothing plays until you press a sound. Every sound also has words and a marker you can see.

1. Sounds in the scene

Press a sound. Look for its marker in the picture and read the caption. How does each sound change the feeling of the scene?

A cozy cabin at the edge of a forest at sunset, with a pond and frog, a songbird on a branch, a campfire, a leafy path and a horse by a post.

Captions show here.

2. Match the sound

Movie sound artists (called Foley artists) make sounds with everyday things. Pick the sound you think each object can make, then check.

Try it at home

Ask a grown-up for a pair of gloves, a plastic bag or two plastic cups. Can you make bird wings, a crackly fire or horse hooves? Close your eyes and let someone guess.

The sounds in this studio were made for Flick’s Movie Club and are stored on this website. The page never records or listens to you.
