Booking & Quotes

How do I get a quote?

Fill out our quote form or call (518) 389-5541. Tell us the date, the location and roughly how many guests you expect. We reply within 24 hours with a recommended setup and a quote that spells out every line.

How far in advance should I book?

As soon as you have a date. Summer weekends and the holiday season fill up first, and weeknights are usually easier to get. Popular or recent movies also need more lead time for the license. More in how far in advance to book.

What areas do you serve?

We're based in Clifton Park and work the Capital Region and Upstate New York, including Albany, Saratoga Springs, Schenectady, Troy and Lake George. We also travel for events in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Massachusetts. See where we serve.

How much does a movie night cost?

It depends on your crowd and venue (they set the screen and sound size), the date and location, the add-ons you choose, and the license for your movie. Send us the details and we'll quote each of those separately, so you can see exactly what you're paying for.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is quoted when your venue needs it. It shows up as its own line on your quote, so there are no surprises.

Can we book a whole summer series?

Yes. Towns, parks departments and HOAs often book several dates at once, which locks in their weekends before they fill up. Our guide to starting a Movies in the Park program walks through the planning.

What's Included

What’s included in a movie night?

Every booking includes the screen, projector, sound and a crew for setup, operation and teardown. Concessions, lighting, licensing and travel are quoted separately when needed, so you only pay for what your event calls for. See our services.

How many guests can you handle?

Anything from a backyard with a few dozen people to festivals and campus events with 500 or more. We size the screen and sound to your crowd and venue.

Do you do indoor movie nights?

Yes. We set up in gyms, auditoriums, ballrooms, clubhouses, community rooms, and even garages and barns. Indoors you can start any time, with no weather to worry about. More in indoor movie nights.

Do you provide concessions?

Yes, as an add-on: a popcorn machine and a hot dog roller. Schools and PTAs often run them as a fundraiser.

Can we show our own slideshow or announcements before the movie?

Yes. A class slideshow, sponsor slides or a welcome video can play on the big screen before the movie, and there's a microphone for welcomes and sponsor thank-yous. Mention it when you book so we can plan for it.

Can we add a DJ, trivia or a photo booth?

Yes. Pro Stylez Entertainment also provides DJs, trivia hosts and photo booths, so one booking can cover the whole night.

Can I rent the screen to watch a game at home?

Yes. Backyard game day is a screen and sound rental for private parties at home, with your own cable, satellite or streaming account. Choose a drop-off rental or a technician who stays for the whole game.

Do you run the equipment or just drop it off?

For movie nights our crew sets up, runs the show and packs out. For backyard game day you can pick either a drop-off rental or a technician who stays.

Your Venue & Setup

How much space do you need?

At least a flat, open area about 20 by 20 feet with a clear sightline to the screen, plus room for your seating. Bigger crowds need more. Our event readiness checklist covers the rest.

What power do you need?

A nearby outlet, typically on a dedicated 20-amp circuit, or confirmation that generator power works at your site. We'll go over the details for your venue before the date.

Can your crew get the equipment to the setup spot?

We need a path our crew can bring the equipment through to the setup area. Stairs-only entrances or narrow gates can be a problem, so let us know about anything like that ahead of time.

Do we need to turn off sprinklers or mark utilities?

Yes. Turn sprinklers off for the event window. If ground stakes will be used, have underground utility lines marked first by calling 811 (Dig Safe).

Do we need a permit?

Many towns and parks require the host to get approval for an event on public property. Check with your venue early. If they ask about the equipment or setup, tell us what they need and we'll help.

Can the movie start before dark?

Outdoors, a projector needs real darkness, about 20 to 30 minutes after sunset. Our sunset planner gives you a start time for your date and ZIP code. Indoors you can start whenever you like.

Weather & Rain

What if it rains?

Plan for it when you book: pick a rain date or an indoor backup, like a gym or community room, and decide when you'll make the call. We set up indoors too. More in our rain plan guide.

Can we still have a movie night when it’s cold?

Yes. Start earlier, since fall sunsets come early, pick a shorter movie, and tell guests to dress warm and bring blankets. Hot cocoa at the concession stand helps. Or move it indoors. See outdoor movie nights in cold weather.

Movies & Licensing

Do I need a movie license?

Most community, school-event, HOA, and other public screenings require public-performance rights, even when admission is free. That includes school and university events and anything in a park, drive-in, or community space. A private gathering of family and social acquaintances may be different. Tell us about your event and we'll help confirm what rights are needed.

What if I’m not charging admission?

Free admission does not remove the requirement for a public screening. What matters is whether the showing is public, not whether money changes hands.

Are there any exemptions?

There are limited ones, such as certain face-to-face classroom teaching at nonprofit schools. A movie night, fundraiser, or community screening usually isn't covered, and a private gathering of family and social acquaintances may not be a public showing at all. Tell us about your event and we'll help confirm what rights are needed.

What if I already own the movie or it’s on my streaming service?

Owning a DVD or Blu-ray, or having a personal Netflix, Disney+, or similar subscription, only grants you the right to watch at home. It does not include the right to show that title publicly.

What is the cost of a movie license?

Cost varies by licensor, title, and audience size. We'll walk you through the licensing cost as part of your quote.

Who do I pay for a movie license?

With our Movie Licensing Coordination, we handle it for a small coordination fee: we apply with the licensor on your behalf, take care of the paperwork, and send you proof of license. The license fee itself is set by the licensor and quoted separately from the screen, sound, and crew. If you'd rather secure it yourself, that's fine too.

Can I charge admission to my screening?

Sometimes, depending on the license tier for that title. We'll confirm what's allowed for the specific movie you choose.

What movies are available?

Browse our full catalog, or ask us and we'll check availability across all six of our licensing partners.

How far in advance should I book a license?

The earlier the better, especially for popular or recent titles. We recommend booking at least a few weeks ahead of your event date.

Going to a Movie Night

What should I bring to an outdoor movie night?

A low-back chair or a blanket, something to put between you and the ground, layers when it's cool, and a small flashlight for the walk back. Our Movie Night Guide has a checklist you can tick off on your phone.

How early should I get there?

Check the event listing for the door time. Arrive at doors if you want a center spot, have little kids, or want to beat the concession line. Blankets usually go up front and chairs behind.

Can I bring food, drinks or my dog?

Every event sets its own rules on outside food, drinks and pets. Check the event listing or ask the organizer before you pack a cooler or bring the dog.

Is it OK to bring young kids?

Yes. Check the movie's rating and runtime against bedtime, bring pajamas and a blanket, and sit near an edge in case you need to leave early. More tips in the Movie Night Guide.

Is the event accessible?

Our public listings include an accessibility section when the organizer provides one. If you need something specific, like a spot for a wheelchair or a place close to the screen, contact the organizer before the event.

What if the plan changes on the day?

For public movie nights we run, the event page shows the live status, including delays, moves or cancellations. If you signed up for updates on that page, we'll also email you.

Public Movie Nights & Alerts

How do I find public movie nights near me?

See Public Movie Nights for upcoming screenings, with dates, start times, directions and what each event allows.

How do I get an email when a new movie night is announced?

Sign up on our Movie Night Guide or the Public Movie Nights page and confirm your email. You'll get one email per new public movie night, with the date, the movie and the details.

How do I stop the emails?

Every email has a link to stop them. New-event alerts and updates for a specific event are separate, so stopping one doesn't stop the other.

Can I list my own movie night on your calendar?

Yes, for free. If you're hosting a public movie night in the Capital Region or Upstate New York, submit it here. We review every listing before it appears, and you don't need to hire Pro Stylez to be listed.

What does “Community Listing” mean on an event?

It means the movie night is organized by someone else and listed so more families can find it. Pro Stylez Cinema isn't running it, so check with the organizer about admission, times or cancellations. Events we run say "Produced by Pro Stylez Cinema."

Flick's Movie Club

What is Flick’s Movie Club?

Flick's Movie Club is our free kids' corner: coloring pages, games and activities about how movies work, hosted by Flick, our projector mascot. There's nothing to sign up for.

Does the club collect my child’s information?

No. There are no accounts, names, email addresses, photos or uploads, and no ads or analytics in the club. Downloads never need an email.
